At the heart and soul of the CASA is support for students and alumni of all backgrounds. It is our intent to support you, regardless of your race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, nation of origin, socioeconomic status or other individual characteristics and intersectionalities that define you as an individual.
The CASA is centered on diversity, inclusion, and belonging. The Center aims to inspire students from all backgrounds to pursue professional career paths, to support the concrete steps required to get to and through doctoral-level programs, and to sustain relationships with alumni as their careers evolve and they reach back to share their challenges and successes with current students, faculty, and staff. We welcome all Georgia State students and alumni to access our services in the CASA and reach your full potential.
The ultimate mission of the CASA is to increase diversity among leaders in academic and professional positions in the United States and around the world, empowering Georgia State alumni to create a more just and equitable society. When our professional workforce reflects the diversity of our country, the more likely we will enhance research endeavors to address all subpopulations in our country, the more likely we can help reduce health disparities, and the more likely we can promote social justice for all.
Workshops in the CASA host representatives from the Dean of Students to train participants in appropriate conduct and strategies for reporting on and coping with uncomfortable or dangerous incidents. We welcome suggestions on how to maximize inclusivity in our CASA programming. Feel free to email your ideas to [email protected]. If you experience bias, harassment, microaggressions or other discomforts related to programs, events, and/or assignments guided by the CASA, please contact someone. As part of the Georgia State community, you are also encouraged to use resources from the Dean of Students (deanofstudents.gsu.edu) regarding Reporting an Incident, the Student Code of Conduct, Academic Honesty Policy, Freedom of Speech, Student Judicial Board, and even Emergency Withdrawal.
